Gerald “Jerry” L. Childers
72, of Greenwood, passed away at home on March 17, 2023. Jerry was born to the late Raymond & Adella Childers on November 8, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jerry retired from Eli Lilly where he specialized in Pharmaceutical Returns. Jerry loved his grandkids and going to their sporting events. He loved being on the water and traveling with his wife and spent many winters as a “snowbird” in Mexico. Jerry stayed busy doing projects around the house and was a true fan of Indiana University and Butler sports.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Barbara (Rae) Childers, children; Shane Wiley, Stacie (Kevin Lennis) Childers and Todd Wiley, grandchildren; Zach (Yesenia) Gill, Ashleigh (Josh) Gibson, Alysha Copeland, Bryce Gill, Allie Wiley, Sophia Wiley, Jack Wiley and Samuel Wiley, great-grandchildren; Brooklyn & Ryleigh and siblings; Betty “Sis” Carpenter, Rosemary “Toogie” Blacker, Sonny (Mary Kay) Childers, Bill (Jeanne) Childers, Pat (Marvin) Hoover and Mike Childers, along with sister-in-law; Kristy Childers.
Jerry is preceded in death by his brother, Joe Childers.
Visitation will be held at O’Riley Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 11:00 am-1:00 pm with funeral services immediately following at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Jerry was a delight and fun to be around. I know my cousin Bobbie loves him dearly. I will miss him. RIP Jerry
