Linda J. Burkhard

February 25, 1938 ~ November 18, 2023
Linda J. Burkhard passed in the early morning on November 18, 2023, after a long struggle with lung cancer. A graduate of Ben Davis High School, Linda’s primary vocation was being a “Homemaker.” She listed her three happiest life events as the birth of her three children. Linda was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a loyal friend. Acceptance, compassion, friendliness, honesty, self-sacrifice, service to others, and an ability to find joy and happiness in the complexities of everyday life are qualities that describe the powerful integrity of Linda. She has no enemies and was deeply admired, loved, and respected by her family and friends. Linda was a woman of great faith. She was a member of the Christian Church before converting to Catholicism prior to marrying her deceased husband of 48 years, Frank. She respected people from different cultures and faith backgrounds. She enjoyed involvement in Catholic ministry to several immigrant families and developed lasting relationships with these families. Linda made it a priority to make sure that none of her family and friends were ever left behind by regularly sending holiday and birthday greeting cards.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Frank, son Bill, mother Irene Mann Moore, daughter-in-law JoAnne, father Roy Thomas, and step-father Harry Moore. She is survived by her son David, daughter Susan (David) Klusman, daughter-in-law Elaine, brother Jim Moore, sister Nancy Wilson, half-sisters Donna Mahler and Gerrie Thomas, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Linda’s Life Celebration® visitation will be Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. Her Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Will never forget the admiration Katie had for her grandmother, and the patience and kindness her grandmother treated us with regardless of the circumstances. ♥️
So sorry for your loss
Linda is one of the peices that kept her granddaughter Heather and I together when we were younger. She made the Best Fluffernutters. So many nights spending the nights at her house with Heather, so many great memories. Linda and Frank would take us all to Indiana Beach in the summer. I would have loved to see the reunion she had with Frank and her son Bill. She will be greatly missed by all who who had the privilege of knowing her. See you in heaven Grandma.

Reading her obituary, I can only say Amen to that. Linda was my neighbor and friend, one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I will miss her comments about my gardening y and her concern about my Don’s health. I will treasure even more the. Gifts she has given me
