Marjorie Anne Cottrell

Marjorie Anne (White) Cottrell, 66, lifelong Indianapolis resident, passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.  Marjorie was born one of six children on November 8, 1957, to the late Edward and Marlene (Adams) White.  She married her high school sweetheart, Rich Cottrell, on June 5, 1977, and he survives.

Marjorie graduated from John Marshall High School in 1976 and dedicated 31 years of service to Community Pediatrics as a medical receptionist, retiring in December 2023.  Her greatest vocation was that of a wife, mother, and grandmother.   In addition to tenderly raising her own children, she was the adopted mom to many of their friends.  The Cottrell home was always open, and friends were welcome to Marjorie’s wonderful homecooked meals.  She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and spending time outdoors.   A collector of gingerbread men, Marjorie’s favorite holiday was Christmas.  Many wonderful memories were created on the shores of Mexico Beach in the Panhandle, where Marjorie could recharge.

Marjorie will be forever remembered for her strength, love for family, and dedication to her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Collins.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Rich Cottrell; children, Brandon (Brooke) Cottrell, Aaron Cottrell, Bradley Cottrell, and Elise (Robert) Viergutz; siblings, Edward (Cathy) White, Kevin (Elizabeth) White, Gene (Linda) White, and Tina (the late David) Burch; grandchildren, Terry, Natalie, Vivian, and Grayson.

 Marjorie’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2024, 4 to 8 p.m., at the

O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S.
