Ruth Anne Noe

Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Ruth Anne Noe, 89, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024, after a brief illness with cancer.  Ruth Anne was born January 5, 1935, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Harold and Ruth Flannery Cook.  She married Robert Noe in May 1954.

Ruth Anne grew up on Pennsylvania Avenue across from St. Roch Church.  She attended St. Roch for elementary school and then graduated from St. Mary’s High School.

After Ruth Anne married Robert (Bob) they moved into their home by Garfield Park where she lived for 70 years.  She raised her children while attending many of their sporting activities, serving as a CDA leader, and being a loving and caring mother and then later grandmother.

She worked for the United States Post Office after her husband became sick to support her family of four children.  Reluctantly, she retired after 40 years at the age of 75 leaving the many good friends she had made over the years.

Following retirement Ruth Anne enjoyed spending more time with her children and grandchildren, taking trips, and working with St. Vincent de Paul at Good Shepherd Church.  As a lifelong member of St. Catherine’s and then Good Shepherd Church, Ruth Anne enjoyed being part of the parish by helping with activities like the prayer line, bible studies, mercy meals, participating in parish events, and helping where needed.

Survivors include her children, Cathy, Karen, Bob (Patsy), and Sandy.  In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren:  Abi, Becky, Emilee, Nick, Aaron, Isabel, Sofie, Monica and 13 great-grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her husband Robert, grandson, Chris and great granddaughters Ambriella and Lilly.  Her late siblings include brothers, Harold, John, and Robert. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Ruth will be held on April 1, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2905 Carson Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46203. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will take place on April 2, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Services entrusted to O'Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Society at Good Shepherd.

As we mourn the loss of Ruth Anne Noe, let us also celebrate the legacy of love and compassion she leaves behind. May her gentle spirit continue to guide and inspire us all. Rest in peace.

  2. I met Ruth Anne at Good Shepherd Bible Study. She was always loving, kind and a good listener. I admired her strength in dealing with the challenges of life. I really enjoyed our friendship.
She was a faithful servant in various ministries at the chuch. I will miss her. My sympathy to her loving family.

  3. So Sorry for your loss, I didn’t know your mother/grandmother but I know she raised some wonderful children and grandchildren. May she rest in peace.

  4. My condolences, Cathy. There is an Irish saying that Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal. I hope you find comfort in the latter.

  5. In my memories of Aunt Ruth Ann, she was a kind, wonderful, caring person. She was always taking care of everyone. The world will be a sadder place without her.

  6. The Cooks and the Maxwell’s grew up together at St. Roch’s. John and Gene were in the same class, and Ruth Ann and Therese graduated in the same Class. The Cooks always hosted the corpus Christi procession from the old St Roch Church to the Cook home where Benediction was held. For me, that is a great memory of Ruth Anne and her family. Thank you for all your work for Good Shepherd and especially for the Good Shepherd St
    Vincent de Paul Conference.

  7. Ruth Ann Noe was one of the greatest people that I had ever met during my employment with the USPS. I had just thought about her as my 40th year with the USPS is coming up. It saddens me that she’s gone but for me to even think of her, shows what kind of regard that I had for her. As you grow older in life and realize how life is truly short, you think of the good people that you meet and Ruth Ann was definitely one of those. You could say nothing bad of her because she was genuinely a good person. We often had differing opinions about social issues as people often do, but it was never acrimonious. I just want your family to know how good that your Mother was and that I hold her as person in such high regard. May God Bless you all, as he surely has. Your Mother was one of a kind, but the world needs more of her kind.
