Lisa Christine McHugh, age 45, a beloved mother, devoted friend, and kind-hearted soul, passed away on July 1, 2025, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Lisa was born on March 14, 1980, in Indianapolis, and adopted by her loving parents, Christine & John McHugh when she was 4 years old. Lisa’s vibrant spirit and unwavering love for those around her defined her life.
Throughout her career, Lisa enjoyed her work as a Paralegal and was a server at Champps in Castleton and at Kona Jack’s in Indianapolis. Her professional pursuits were marked not just by ambition, but by a true desire to help others. This same passion for service was reflected in her personal life, where she could often be found supporting her son at sporting events and school activities. Her commitment to her children was a testament to her nurturing nature; she treasured each moment spent in their company.
An avid lover of art, Lisa found peace and joy in oil painting, often describing it as her happy place. Painting allowed her to express her creativity, and her love for the arts was one of the many facets that made her who she was.
Lisa was known for her kind and giving personality. Her friends and family often remarked that she would give you the shirt off her back— a sentiment that echoed the essence of her spirit. She had an immense capacity for empathy, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. In her spare time, her compassion extended to her love for animals, as she would frequently rescue strays, bringing them into her home and heart.
Lisa is survived by her loving parents; Christina & John McHugh, son; Daylen Taylor, and daughter; Rachel VanDam.
Lisa is preceded in death by her brother: Andrew McHugh.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Chapel (9001 Havertick Rd., Indianapolis, Indiana, 46240) from 10:00am-11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am with burial immediately following.
Lisa’s legacy of kindness and dedication will forever resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know her. Although her time with us was too brief, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends, as she joins her beloved brother, Drew, in the heavenly kingdom.
