Ruth Georgescu, a vibrant soul whose laughter and warmth touched the hearts of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026. Ruth was born on September 15, 1938, in Indianapolis, to the late Frank & Emma Quinn. Ruth was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Central High School, where her spirited nature shone as she led her fellow students as a Cheerleader.
For many years, Ruth dedicated herself to her career at Sears and Roebuck Company, thriving in the cash office. Her brilliant sense of humor and great wit were matched only by her spunk and sass, making every moment spent with her remarkable and memorable.
Ruth’s family was her pride and joy. She married the love of her life, Pete, on August 19, 1961, embarking on a journey filled with love that would last a lifetime. Together, they welcomed two sons and a daughter. Ruth was a giver at heart and enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends.
Some of her dearest memories included nightly rituals, where before bed, Ruth could often be found enjoying a cold Coors Light, dreaming of the days she might again smoke her beloved Virginia Slims, even though she had quit long ago. The warmth of her home extended beyond her family as once warm weather hit, each evening her and her neighbors would join her on her driveway for countless laughs and fun. They had many names for this large circle of neighbors that became remarkably close friends but eventually titled themselves as the “Prayer Group”.
Though she has left this earthly realm, Ruth’s spirit lives on in the hearts of all those who were touched by her kindness. She often told the prayer group when she got old that she was going to take up smoking again, but she remained true to her resolve. Instead, she focused on the moments that truly mattered, creating memories, sharing laughter, and spreading joy among those she loved.
Ruth is survived by her loving daughter Beth Georgescu, and her two sons Steve Georgescu, and Mark (Ken Kilday) Georgescu, sister; Donna (Don) Pittman, and sister-in-law; Georgiann Georgescu.
Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband; Pete I. Georgescu, Jr., siblings; Bob Quinn, Mary Quinn, Helen Pierle, Carol Quinn, and JoAnn Ferguson, and brother-in-law; Paul Georgescu.
Visitation will be at O’Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 9:30am-11:45am.
