Carol Anne Clarke was born on August 7, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Albert & Anne Kubilis. Carol left this world on February 28, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, after a life filled with love, joy, and countless cherished memories. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother, whose presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Carol’s career as an administrator at IUPUI showcased her unwavering dedication and hard work. For many years, she served closely with faculty, contributing her talents and warmth to the academic community. Her colleagues admired her for her tireless efforts and her ability to connect with others, reinforcing the notion that Carol was more than just an employee; she was a beloved member of the IUPUI family.
On September 11, 1971, Carol married the love of her life, Thomas E. [MC1.1]Clarke. Together, they celebrated an extraordinary 54 years of marriage marked by deep affection and partnership. Their bond not only enriched their lives but also created a nurturing environment for their family. Carol adored spending time with her family, especially her cherished granddaughters, Vivian and Ava. Those moments together brought her immense joy and were undoubtedly her proudest accomplishments.
A graduate of North Central High School in Indianapolis, Carol furthered her education in General Studies at IUPUI. Her quest for knowledge mirrored her love for life, seen in how she gathered experiences rather than just education. Carol’s passion extended to many pursuits, including crafting which became a joyful pastime. She often found herself at various craft shows, lost in creativity and inspiration, reflecting her vibrant spirit.
Nature called Carol; her flower garden was a sanctuary where she could escape and find solace among flowers of all kinds. Her love for the outdoors was complemented by her fondness for the water — she cherished weekends spent on the family boat along the Ohio River, where the serenity of the water brought her peace and relaxation. In these moments, Carol would smile brighter than ever, celebrating life surrounded by family.
Christmas held a special place in Carol’s heart. Each year, she eagerly anticipated the chance to decorate her home and create unforgettable family gatherings. It was during these celebrations—surrounded by loved ones—that her happiness was at its peak, filling the room with warmth, laughter, and love.
Her giving nature extended beyond her immediate family. Carol was a founding member of St. Francis & Clare Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Greenwood, where she passionately served as a parishioner for over 35 years. Her commitment to the church and its community reflected her giving soul, always taking the time to care for others.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 54 years; Thomas E. Clarke, sons; Tom Clarke & Michael (Kate) Clarke, along with her granddaughters; Vivian & Ava Clarke.
