Resided in: Indianapolis, Indiana

Janice Marie Selzer, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 1, 2026. She was born on September 25, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Janice graduated from Bishop Chartrand High School as a member of the Class of 1968, a year that marked the beginning of many lifelong memories and friendships.

High school sweethearts, Janice shared a long and loving marriage with her late husband, John. Married in 1968, they spent over 55 devoted years together, building a life centered on love, family, and unwavering partnership.
Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Selzer; her parents, Bernard and Ellen Emrich Alerding; and her brother, Donald Alerding.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Jeff (Bobbi) Selzer and Jennifer (Eric) McElhaney; her sister, Nancy Sullivan; her grandchildren, Kayla (Ryker) Stout, Evan McElhaney and Kerri (Joe) Faubion; and her great-grandchild, Beckett Stout.

Her sister, Nancy, shared a heartfelt sentiment that Janice was truly the “best sister ever!”

Janice found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She adored her pets, Ruby and Betty Boop, and had a special love for birdwatching—especially cardinals, which held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed collecting keepsakes, particularly cardinals, giraffes, and elephants, each one reflecting her warm and sentimental spirit.

She was an avid sports fan and loved watching softball and cheering on her favorite athletes, including Caitlin Clark, Aaron Judge, Patrick Mahomes, and Tyrese Haliburton.

Above all, Janice treasured her role as “Mamaw.” Spending time with her grandchildren brought her immense happiness, and her love for them was the center of her world.

Janice will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to family, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions in Janice’s name be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (https://t2t.org/) or Tails and Trails Rescue (https://tailsandtrails.org).

Services are entrusted to O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227
