Donald A. Knapke, a devoted family and faithful man, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on February 14, 1935, in Newport, Kentucky, Donald lived a life marked by dedication to his loved ones, unwavering faith and a steadfast commitment to his career.

For 48 years, Donald served as a sales manager for Tea Shopping Service, a role he carried with pride until 1988. His professional journey was characterized by diligence and a genuine warmth that endeared him to colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his career, Donald was a man who treasured the simple joys of life, often finding comfort and happiness in watching sports and television.

A faithful member of St. Mark Catholic Church for 39 years, Donald’s spirituality was a cornerstone of his identity. His faith guided him through life’s challenges and shaped the way he nurtured his family and friendships. Central to his life were the values of family and faith, which he considered his proudest accomplishments.

Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara Jean Knapke, and his parents, Hazel and Wilbur Knapke. He leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy of love and faith. His children—Deborah (Dennis) Ellerby, Donald (Danielle) Knapke Jr., Douglas Knapke, Denise (Bob) Soltis, and David Knapke—remember him as a pillar of strength and kindness. He was also a cherished brother to Wilbur (Patty) Knapke and Teresa Presson.

Donald’s joy extended to his grandchildren Michael, Brittany, Jade, Abby, Sarah, Emily, India, Casey, and Kaya, who brought light and laughter into his life. His great-grandchildren—Emma, Eli, Sam, Jackson, Henry, Ethan, and Liam—were the next generation blessed by his gentle spirit and warmth.

Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are invited to celebrate Donald’s life during the visitation on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, located at 6107 S East St, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 535 E. Edgewood Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227.
