Charles “Chuck” Beller passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on June 11, 1952, in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Daniel and Wilma Beller. Chuck lived a life marked by service, resilience, and kindness.
Chuck attended Martinsville High School. He joined the United States Air Force in 1971. During his four-year tenure, the Air Force sent Chuck to Army Ranger School. He served in Thailand for a year where he guarded the spy plane runway at U-Tapao Royal Air Base.
Chuck worked as a freight checker at Roadway Express for 30 years. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 135. As he approached retirement, Chuck decided to attend Indiana Wesleyan University and graduated with an A.S. in General Studies at the age of 52. After retirement from Roadway, Chuck worked for The Salvation Army, Indiana Division, as a service extension representative where he assisted in multiple disaster relief efforts in Southern Indiana.
Chuck’s second career was cut short by a massive stroke he suffered in January 2011. Against all odds, Chuck survived and thrived for the next 15 years. He served as an inspiration for many on how to overcome tragedy and learn to live fully despite physical limitations.
Those who knew Chuck remember him as funny, loving, and kind-hearted. His easy laughter, warm smile, and generous spirit brightened every room he entered. A devoted fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University basketball and football finding joy and camaraderie in the thrill of the game. He had a fondness for visits to the casino as well.
On April 6, 2026, Chuck celebrated 30 years of continuous sobriety for which he was profoundly grateful. He dedicated himself to helping others achieve sobriety through the 12-steps and enjoyed being of service. Chuck’s journey inspired many, and his commitment to giving back was woven deeply into the fabric of his life.
Chuck and his wife, Jennie, married on August 26, 2000. Together, they built a partnership filled with love and shared dreams. Their bond was a source of comfort and joy, inspiring all who witnessed their enduring devotion.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jennie Beller; daughter, Karen (Danny) Rooker; son, Lucas Beller; grandchildren: Joseph (Sierra) Beller, Taylor (Julia) Adamson, Morgan, Haley and Cameron Beller; nine great grandchildren, and brothers, William and Lee Beller.
He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Beller; brother, James Beller; granddaughter, Danielle Beller; and grandson, Daniel Beller.
A Memorial Gathering will take place at O’Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory (6107 South East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227) on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00am in the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Crown Hill National Cemetery in Indianapolis at 1:00pm.
Charles “Chuck” Beller leaves behind a legacy of kindness, perseverance, and deep love for those around him. Though he has passed from this world, the warmth he shared, the lives he touched, and the light he brought to others will forever endure in the hearts of his family and friends. His story is one of strength in the face of adversity, and a reminder that true courage lies in service — to one’s country, to one’s community, and to oneself.
