Mary C. Sanders, a cherished soul whose warmth touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mary was born on January 25, 1961, to the late William & Vincentia Sanders. Mary’s life was a testament to devotion, kindness, and an unwavering work ethic that inspired everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Mary’s journey began at Southport High School, where she graduated in 1979. Her thirst for knowledge and ambition led her to Indiana Business College, laying the foundation for a remarkable career in Technology Support at GPM. She loved her work deeply, embracing every challenge with enthusiasm and dedication. Mary’s unmatched commitment not only earned her respect but also brought her lifelong friendships, bonds she treasured dearly.

At the heart of Mary’s life was her beloved son, Zach, the center of her universe and the recipient of her boundless love. Her personality shone brightly through her loving, giving, and kind nature. Mary’s love language was caring for others, and she practiced this beautifully every day—whether through small acts of kindness or by ensuring those she cared for always felt supported and cherished.

One of the most vivid memories tied to Mary is her love for Christmas, a season she embraced with open arms and a joyful spirit. She made certain that everyone in the family received a gift, relishing the special moments spent with loved ones gathered in her home. It was during these times that Mary’s warmth and generosity were most evident, as she thrived on the sense of unity and happiness the holidays brought.

Mary’s zest for life extended beyond work and family. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life—shopping on QVC, which often surprised her family with mysterious packages arriving at the doorstep. She was an avid poker player, known among friends for her lucky streaks, especially in Las Vegas, where fortune seemed to favor her. On quieter days, Mary found joy nestled in her favorite chair, captivated by a good Hallmark movie, where stories of hope and love mirrored her own compassionate spirit.

Mary is survived by her loving son; Zach (Maggie) Young, siblings; Bill (Rose) Sanders, Chris Sanders, and Veronica (Ryan) Thatcher, Nieces; Abigail Dunn, Cecelia Dunn, Vincentia Thatcher, and Charlotte Thatcher, and nephews; Torey (Katarina) Dunn & Quinn Thatcher.

Mary is preceded in death by her sister; Virginia Sanders, and brother; John Sanders.

A Memorial Gathering will take place at O’Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory (6107 South East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227) on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at St. Jude Catholic Church (5353 McFarland Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227) at 10:00am.

Her legacy is a tapestry woven from love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Mary leaves behind her son, Zach, whose life she lovingly nurtured. Though Mary has departed from this world, the kindness she sowed and the memories she created remain a beacon of light for all who knew her.
