Josephine A. (Curry) Palmer, 97, of Indianapolis passed away on August 14, 2026. Josephine was born in Indianapolis to the late Samuel & Josephine Mary Curry on June 20, 1929. Josephine was a kind and giving soul and loved to be with people.

She was a tough cookie, but most of all she was loving to all she met. She was the happiest when surrounded by family and those she loved and cared about. Josephine spent her younger years as a stay-at-home mom to Josie and loved every minute of these years.

Josephine had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. She was known in her family as the “caretaker” and enjoyed caring for others. She was a fierce protector of her daughter Josie and made it her life’s passion to make sure that Josie was well taken care of.

Josephine is survived by her daughter; Josie Palmer.

Josephine is preceded in death by her loving husband; Elmer John Palmer, brothers; John F. , James E., and Chester T. Curry, sisters; Mary Frances Siener, Ruth Margaret Miller, Helena Martha Northern, and Elise Catherine Crossen.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Aunt Jo Ann was the youngest and last to die of the 8 sibling Curry family my dad was part of. I remember her probably in her mid to late 20s, smartly dressed and going off to work. She was a beauty with her red hair and alabaster skin and pale blue eyes. She lived with Grandma Kohlmann(sp)-Curry probably well into her 30s when Grandma died. Her life picked up with John Palmer some time after that. (These are only my recollections, not aimed to be 100% accurate).

  2. I am deeply saddened to learn of her passing. She was a woman of remarkable strength who raised a kind and thoughtful daughter. Josie, my heart goes out to you. I am thinking of you, sending you all my love, and praying that you find solace in all the beautiful memories you share of your mother.
    With love, Cousin Betty Sanchez
