Kathleen A. Tichenor

Kathleen A. “Kathy” Tichenor, nee Scott, 81, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2026, supported by Gentiva hospice care and surrounded by her immediate and extended family. Raised in Vincennes, Indiana, Kathy built her life around faith, family, education, and service. She married William T. Tichenor on February 12, 1966, and supported his service in the United States Air Force, following him to Great Falls, Montana. They shared more than 60 beautiful years of marriage. She was a graduate of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and proudly wore her SMW class ring her entire life. A devoted Catholic educator, Kathy served as a teacher and principal at St. Ann’s, All Saints, and Central Catholic Elementary Schools. Her commitment to young people continued through her 81st birthday as a mentor to students entering the education field at Marian University. Kathy lived her Catholic faith by continuous involvement in her St. Barnabas Parish community through 50 years of involvement in parish council, church decorating, teaching RCIA, making rosaries, and leading others to Christ through her example and service. Family was the center of her life, especially gathering loved ones around the table for sit-down meals. Remembered as the strongest woman her family knew, Kathy faced breast cancer and later metastatic breast cancer around her lungs with remarkable courage. She is survived by her husband Bill, son Tim (Traci), daughter Tara (John (J.J.)), her six grandchildren, Patrick Tichenor, Alex (Ashley) Tichenor, Caroline (Blake) Amonett, nee Morse, Kathleen Morse, Jack (Kynlie) Tichenor, and Will Morse, great grandsons Declan and Hudson Tichenor, sister Sharon Roeder, Sandy (Bill) Schmidt and brother Chick (Faye) Scott, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents James N. Scott and Margaret Anne Maroney Scott, and sister Jacque Scott Clements. She leaves an enduring legacy as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, educator, mentor, and family matriarch.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory.  The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2026, in St. Barnabas Catholic Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions in Kathy’s honor to METAvivor Research.
