Celebrating the Life of Siplet Elma

April 1973 – September 16, 2026

Siplet Elma was born in April 1973 in La plat Haiti to Stephen Elma and Avanise Elma. In 1990, Siplet left Haiti and moved to the Bahamas, where he spent three years. In 1993, he continued his journey and moved to the United States, where he would build the next chapter of his life.

Throughout his life, Siplet was devoted to his family, his faith, and his responsibilities. He will be remembered for his love for God, his family, his music, and the special personality that made him who he was.

A Life of Family & Hard Work

Siplet was a hardworking man who made his living as a truck driver. He approached his work with dedication and remained committed to providing for and caring for the people he loved.

Siplet shared his life with his beloved wife, Marthelaine Elma, whom he married in 2002 in Broward County, Florida. He was a proud and devoted father to his six children: Dieufait Elma, Videsone Elma, Bernise Elma, Wilkinson Elma, Rickson Elma, and Solomon Elma.

His family also included his daughter-in-law, Fabienne Elma, wife of Dieufait, and his beloved grandchild, Dinayah Elma. His family held a special place in his heart, and the memories they created together will forever be treasured.

A Life of Faith

Siplet was a man of faith who loved serving God. In his younger years at Église Évangélique de Sion, he helped with church transportation, served as a worship leader, and sang with his family. He later continued worshiping and serving the Lord at Jesus Christ Worship Center in Indianapolis. He also enjoyed studying the Bible and sharing his faith with his children.

According to 1 Corinthians 15:58, we are encouraged to remain steadfast and devoted to the work of the Lord, knowing that our labor in Him is not in vain. This scripture beautifully reflects Siplet’s life of faith and service.

Siplet came from a large and loving family. He was the 11th of 13 children. His brothers and sisters include Olette Elma, Juslet Elma, Stenio Elma, Jocelin Elma, Odiquer Elma, Présandieu Elma, and Nordéus Elma.

Those who knew Siplet will remember the little things that made him uniquely himself, his voice, his personality, and the expressions that could always bring a smile to those around him.

One saying of his that we will always remember is:

“Sèl pwoblèm mwen gen, volume nan twò ba. Ban m yon ti volume!”

His Legacy

On September 16, 2026, Siplet’s earthly journey came to an end, but the love, faith, and memories he leaves behind will continue to live on.

Siplet will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, beloved brother and uncle, faithful friend, hardworking man, and servant of God. His children will carry with them the lessons and faith he shared. Those who worshiped alongside him will remember his voice and his love for praising God. His family and friends will remember his personality, his familiar sayings, and the many moments of love and laughter they shared.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2023, at John Wesley Free Methodist Church (5900 W. 46th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana) from 10:00am-11:00am. Funeral Services will be immediately following in the church at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
