“This is Rick”

Rick, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on October 17, 2026. Rick was born in Bedford, Indiana on March 29, 1948, to the late Loren Dale & Betty Joan Arnold. As a child he was adventurous and sports minded. He loved spending his time with his cousins and friends whether it be on his grandparents farm or messing around near the quarries. He like to have his own money as a child and accomplished this by delivering papers after school. His love for baseball turned to softball and golf during his later years. He always enjoyed playing golf with the Citizens Gas & WINOS up until this past June.

When he moved to Indianapolis in 1968, he started working for Citizens Gas & Coke Utility Company. His career spanned over 43 years up until his retirement in 2001. Rick didn’t stop there though, he continued to be a supplemental employee for another 10 years for the company. It was here that he made many lifelong friends and always respected his colleagues.

He married Cathy Holbert after high school and they had two children; Jenny & Jeff. He was single for several years before meeting & marrying the biggest challenge of his life, Mary Ann. Together, they loved to travel and one of their favorite places was Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They shared their love of Gatlinburg with their family & friends, where he loved being in the mountains of Tennessee.

Rick was a giver who never met a stranger. If you needed something and Rick had it, it was yours. He was generous wioth his time and loved to help others.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 34 years; Mary Ann Arnold, children; Jenny (Scott) Humerickhouse and Jeff Arnold, bonus children; Don (Rachel) Patton and Stephanie (Daniel) Riley; 10 grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored; sister; Susan Arnold, nieces & nephews, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 10:00am-1:00pm at O’Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory (6107 South East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227). Funeral Services will be immediately following in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rick’s honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (135 West Muhammad Ali Blvd., Louisville, Kentucky 40202)
