Ada Mina

October 5, 1937 ~ August 8, 2024
Ada (Maestri) Mina, 86, Indianapolis, passed away surrounded by her children on August 8, 2024. She was born on October 5, 1937, in a small town of Northern Italy, (Carisolo). She was one of 4 children born to Rodolfo and Carlina Maestri and is survived by her two sisters, Gabriella Lambert and Julia Haas. She came to Indianapolis with her family when she was 8 years old and moved to a neighborhood close to the Fountain Square area along with other family members and friends from her Italian hometown. From this neighborhood is where she met her future husband of 53 years Aldo S. Mina (2010), who has preceded her in death along with her oldest son, Aldo J. Mina (2016).
Ada was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her constant devotion to her husband, children, and faith in the Lord was the foundational glue to her family. If any prayers were needed, you could always count on the fact that she had a candle lit in prayer. Ada was an excellent cook and loved making many delicious Italian meals. Everyone looked forward to being invited over to dinner to enjoy these meals.
After raising her seven children, she worked part-time at Market Square Arena and then later at Tucker State Pharmacy. She enjoyed playing Euchre with many of her longtime friends as it was very important for her to stay connected to them. Ada was involved with the St. Catherine Choir for over 30 years along with St. Jude Choir in her later years.
She is survived by her 6 children, Enza (Doug) Sprauer, Dominic Mina, Angela Mina, Anthony (Anita) Mina, Mary Ann (Paul) Phillips, and Gino (Michelle) Mina along with her 14 grandchildren; Michael Mina, Dominic Mina, Evan Finecy, Austin Finecy, Nicholas Mina, Carlina Mina, Enza Griffin, Emily Bradley, Anthony Joseph Mina, Michael Mina, Gina Gentzkow, Maria Mina, Vincenzo Mina, Joseph Mina along with 15 great-grandchildren.

My Grandma was one of the most loving, caring, and faithful people I know. She has really inspired me to stay strong in my faith in the Lord, no matter what happens (She also always reminded me to wear an undershirt in the winter so I don’t get a cold).
I loved Ada just the short time I knew her. I met her when she 1st came for rehab in Greenwood Village. I’m the Catholic volunteer rep for the campus. I live in a cottage. I know she had to be a fun lady just from the short time I knew her. At an entertainment here I sat by her & they brought her old friend, Barbara Boyle in & sat her on the other side of me. Right away Ada knew her. They had been friends for years. Barbara seemed to know her but has memory issues. Ada said I’ve called you & don’t get you. I explained Barbara was in the altzheimers unit & wasn’t getting those messsges. It was nice yo see an old glimmer from both of them. Too bad there wasn’t more time for them to visit. I don’t know if your mom was able to see her any more or not.
I was so surprised Sun morning to see so many family there when I was doing my Communion route, then I realized why. I was also very happy I was able to get a Priest & our seminarian over. The Priest was a missionary Priest who was visiting olg. He was more than happy to come over & give Ada the Blessings. I was happy to share those moments with the family.
She’s at peace now & we know she’s in Heaven to look out for all of us.
My sympathy to all of you. I will miss Ada. I enjoyed my short visits with her here at Greenwood Village.
I requested a Mass said for her at OLG.
May she rest in peace.

Ada, you will be greatly missed! I truly loved doing your hair every Friday. Couldn’t wait to see you pull up so I could walk out to your car and walk you in to the salon and seat you in the chair. And then I would walk you out when I was finished with your style. Ada, I always loved when you told me a lot of different stories about the kids growing up, where you lived talked about your home over in Italy. I loved all of our conversations together. Until we meet again, I love you, Ada, Markie Wilson.
