Anthony "Tony" Aloysius Krebs

February 25, 1945 ~ October 19, 2024
Anthony "Tony" Aloysius Krebs, a cherished soul whose life radiated kindness and humor, was born on February 25, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He gracefully departed from this world on October 19, 2024, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and selflessness.
Tony dedicated himself to the noble profession of teaching and counseling, serving the MSD Lawrence Township for an impressive 34 years, before retiring in 2000. His commitment to nurturing young minds and guiding them towards their potential exemplified his profound dedication to education. A proud alumnus of Indiana State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree and played tennis and Ball State University, where he obtained his master’s degree, Tony remained an eternal student of life, eager to learn and grow alongside those he inspired.
His spirit was characterized not just by intellect but also by a jocular personality, enjoying a joke or pulling a joke on others. Those who crossed paths with Tony were graced by his kind and loving nature, as he always sought ways to uplift others and give back to the community that he adored. He cherished his role as a mentor and a friend, particularly reveling in moments spent enriching the lives of those around him.
Beyond the classroom, Tony was a man of diverse interests and hobbies. He found joy in simple pleasures, whether it be indulging in delectable donuts, mastering the art of winemaking, crafting beautiful pieces of pottery, or delighting in magic and the thrill of sports such as tennis and pickleball. Tony was proud that he ran in 6 marathons across the United States, raising money for charity. However, it was his grandchildren who illuminated his heart with immeasurable joy. Affectionately referred to as “De” by his adored grandchildren, Tony made it a priority to attend their events, cheering them on with a big-hearted enthusiasm that defined his very being.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Dunn Krebs; two devoted sons, Todd (Lara) and Matt (Denise) Krebs; and three cherished grandchildren, Z, Parker, and Owen Krebs. He leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Frances Sahm Krebs, and his sister, Mary Lou Miller, and nephew Jeffrey Lee Miller. Their legacy of love and compassion now finds solace in the many lives Tony touched, inspiring them to contribute to the world with the same generosity of spirit he exemplified.

Tony was always joyful and so friendly. I haven’t seen him for quite a while, but he was one of those guys that everybody liked and was always in a good mood. I will pray for him and for the family.
I met Tony at RLC during a fundraising event. He was warm and friendly. We laughed and joked around and I totally enjoyed talking to him. He gave me a small pottery piece he had made. Extremely charming man.
My thoughts and prayers for peace are with his dear family whom I adore. May Tony rest in the arms of his loving Heavenly Father.
Tony and I were very close in high school, spending a lot of time together on and off the tennis court. His laugh was contagious and I remember it to this day even though we lost touch after graduation. I am very sorry for your loss.
Tony was all of, as his gentle and kind words shared. We were ’63 SHC Classmates. And friends. I only knew Tony to be a kind and caring man.

Sandy,
My heart breaks for you, and your family. I hope you know that in spite of the lost years, my love for the two of you was , and always will be steadfast. Knowing you are a family strong in faith and love, you will be of comfort to one another. The video was so touching, so many wonderful memories to reflect on. I am sad to say goodbye to my old friend and neighbor, but the real sadness would have been never having him in my life.
Take care Sandy, if ever you are in need of anything…you only need to ask. May God continue to bless you and your family. Love, Sherrie
Todd,
Thinking of you and your family in this time of loss.
After several day of thought, we have come to the conclusion that there’s not a concise way to express how we feel about Uncle Tony’s passing, The memories of laughter are abundant…too many to share. We feel beyond blessed to have had the light in our life that we called Uncle Tony. (I couldn’t get used to calling him D because you can’t teach an old dog new tricks). Aunt Sandy, Todd, Matt and your families are in our prayers for peace. Love you all.
Dear Sandy and family, I am so sorry for Tony’s passing. His broad smile always filled the room. You could feel the joy and gratitude he felt everyday for his life and family. One time he told me tennis saved his life. He said if it wasn’t for a tennis scholarship to college he didn’t know where life would have gone. He shared that he felt Gods grace for his wonderful life.
We were fortunate to have both of you as part of our lives at the winery. Peace and love be with you.
