Brian D. Sobel

December 8, 1960 ~ June 4, 2024
Brian D. Sobel, 63, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on June 4, 2024. A master of woodworking and cabinetry, Brian has left behind a legacy of creativity and passion for his craft. Born on December 8, 1960, Brian dedicated his life to honing his skills in woodworking, where he displayed unmatched talent and artistry. His career was not just a job, but a true expression of his love for creating beautiful pieces with precision and dedication.
In addition to his career, Brian had a profound love for the sport of boxing, particularly admiring the legendary Muhammad Ali. He was captivated by Ali's skill and charisma in the ring, never missing an opportunity to watch him fight.
Family was at the center of Brian's world. His bond with his only daughter, Jennifer, was unbreakable. They shared countless adventures; from skipping rocks at the lake to exploring bookstores. Brian also cherished moments spent with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever. His connection with his beloved kitty "Chew Dog" was truly special as he was the only one able to get close to the usually aloof feline.
Brian's personality was a unique blend of wisdom and feistiness. He had a knack for offering sage advice as a noble gentleman while never shying away from speaking his mind with candidness.
One of Brian's proudest accomplishments was marrying the love of his life, Jean, on March 1, 1996. Their partnership was filled with love and unwavering support for each other through life's ups and downs.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 28 years; Jean Sobel, daughter; Jennifer Nicholson, grandchildren; Aireonia Rutherford & Bryan Woods, parents; Jerome & Iris Sobel along with siblings; Max (Terry) Sobel, Ross Sobel & Lisa Sobel.

Brian, you & Jean just crossed my mind the other day and i wondered what ya’ll have been up to and how yall have been, then today Jesselyn tells me that you’ve just passed and it makes my heart hurt that i will not get the chance to ever see you again in life and catch up on where we are today and have a blast talking about past times. To the family, ya’ll are in my thoughts and prayers so much at this time & i am so sorry for your loss, I love ya’ll. I think of you all often and the good times we had on Gladstone. We definitely had some good times partying, chillin, and some lol. Ya’ll have been & always will be in my thoughts & in my heart. Brian’s family was His life and if you knew him you know that, he loved you all so damn much. I can picture him picking up the cat to rub it’s belly while laughing that he was the only one that could do it without a fight I haven’t seen ya’ll in a long minute but Brian, Jean and Jennifer, you will always be there when I reminisce on the good old days on Gladstone Ave! It’s impossible to talk about those times there and not have you guys in the best stories because we rocked that street lol. You will forever be missed old friend Love and Prayers Always. Love, Jill Laker ❤️
