Carl R. Shock

Carl R. Shock, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 15, 2023. Carl was born to the late Carl & Burnetta Shock on November 22, 1928, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Carl graduated from Manual High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy. Carl married the love of his life, Joan (Clark) Shock on January 22, 1951. Carl & Joan celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary this year. Carl was an Engineer for Bridgeport Brass/Olin Brass until his retirement. He loved to travel, fish, and had a passion for trains. Carl enjoyed baseball and was a Cincinnati Reds fan. He also coached Indiana Central Little League when his sons were young. He enjoyed the arts and was the President of the Indiana State Museum Volunteer Association.
Carl is survived by his loving wife; Joan (Clark) Shock, children; Cynthia (Daniel) Meier, Patrick (Lisa) Shock and Thomas (Sharon) Shock, grandchildren; Paul Moriarty, Erin (Keenyn) Smith, Sophia (Blake) Wyrick, Sid (Emma Moore) Shock, Lydia Shock, Dean Shock, Jonathan Meier and Molly Meier, great-grandchildren; Elijah, Dylan, Kaylin, Elaina, Norah and Stori, and sister; Shirley Melvin.
Carl is preceded in death by his sister; Doris Cline.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 11:00am-1:00pm at St. Roch Catholic Church (3600 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46227) A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00pm in the church. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Carl’s honor can be made to St. Roch Catholic Church. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
