Dr. Thomas E. Quill, Jr.

Dr. Thomas E. Quill, Jr. died on February 5, 2019 at the age of 90. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Thomas E. Quill, Sr. and Margaret (Schneider) Quill, his brother Leonard Quill, and his daughter Kathleen Mallatt.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rosemarie (Higgins) Quill; daughters, Suzie (Hassan) Mihankhah, Marianne (Don) Harris, and Meg (Chris) Swhear. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Sean Harris, Monica (Evan) Austin, Jaclyn (Woody Lawson) Swhear, and Julia Harris; and two great grandchildren, Audrey and Thomas Austin.
Tom was a graduate of Cathedral High School Class of 1946, Butler University, and Indiana University School of Dentistry. He served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dr. Quill practiced dentistry for 38 years on the south side of Indianapolis initially with his father and later with his nephew, Thomas E. Quill, II.
He was a member of the Indianapolis District Dental Society, Indiana Dental Society, American Dental Association, and the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Monsignor Downy Council #3660 and a charter member of the Indianapolis Fly Casters.
Tom and Rosie enjoyed traveling with their friends, the “Dirty Dozen.” Being an avid fly fisherman and conservationist, he was presented with the Indianapolis Fly Casters man of the year award for his outstanding efforts toward water quality conservation on Indiana waters.
Family and friends will gather from 10:30 a.m. until Noon on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Road, Indianapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at Noon on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Final care and arrangements are entrusted to the Daniel F. I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Tom’s passing. My father, Joe Quill, and his siblings, were Dr. Tom’s second cousins (I believe). I remember Tom and his wife from family funerals years ago. It was always so kind of them to be there. I just heard earlier this week of his illness and am so sorry for your loss.
