Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Buergler
September 1927 – July 5, 2025

Elizabeth Ann Buergler (Betty), passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, at the age of 97.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Betty lived a life full of family, faith, and love.

Born in Oldenburg, Indiana to Frank and Stella Wendling.  She was a lifelong member of St. Roch Catholic Church, where she was involved in the Altar Society and volunteered throughout the years.

Betty was married to Louis J. Buergler for 64 years. She is survived by her seven children: Richard (Chris), Linda Vance, Sandra Ruhana (Mike), Debora Buergler, Mary Jan, John (Kim), and Robert (Diane). She is also survived by her sister Carol Lippert.

Her legacy continues through 12 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, all of whom she enjoyed spending time with, especially playing cards and games.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband; Louis, her parents, brother; Robert Wendling, sisters; Rosie Bruhn, Shirley Carroll, and Jean Burden and son-in-law; John Vance.

Betty was full of spunk and would always join a game, even playing Bingo two days before she passed. She loved to play cards, make crafts, and loved to travel. She enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida. She loved life.

Betty’s commitment to others showed through her volunteer work at the Hermitage (Envive) in Beech Grove. She often joked that she had been volunteering there so long, she eventually became older than many of the residents.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to her caregiver Julie Ruhana and the special staff at Aspen Trace.
