Celebrating the life of Elizabeth P. Besse, 98, who was born on December 24, 1926, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 21, 2025. Elizabeth was a humble, well-loved, and a remarkable individual, who never meet a stranger.
Elizabeth graduated from St. Catherine’s High School and devoted much of her life to raising her cherished family, reflecting her deep values and the love she had for each of her family members. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she contributed vibrantly to her community.
Elizabeth enjoyed square dancing with her beloved husband, Leo John Besse, who predeceased her. Her talents were many; she was an excellent seamstress and was often affectionately regarded as the unofficial major of St. Paul Hermitage due to her pivotal role in organizing community gatherings, showcasing her knack for making everyone feel connected and included.
Left to honor Elizabeth and remember her love are her children, Timothy Besse, Janet (Bruce) Bukowski, Carol (Tom) Gabonay, Paul Besse, and Marjorie Besse, along with seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Evelyn Clarke Price; her brothers, William and Bernard Price; and her sister, Mary Evelyn Kijovsky.
Visitation for Elizabeth will be Friday, May 2, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 Union Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery,
