Jeffrey Joseph Lax passed away at home on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on February 12, 1954, he was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Jeff moved to Indianapolis to work for Naval Avionics and later Raytheon as a software engineer until his retirement.

Jeff was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. He was interested in electronics, Corvairs, cats, and gardening. He was a big fan of car racing, including the Indy 500, and was a member of the Circle City Corvair Club. Jeff liked to visit the families of his brothers and sister, as well as spending time with his mother during the holidays. He enjoyed many trips to parks in the Rocky Mountains.

Jeff is survived by his sister Nancy Lax Kozar, of Lyons, Colorado, brothers Jim Lax (Elsa) of Sparta, Michigan, and Bill Lax (Pat Riedel) of Loretto, Minnesota, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Marian Lax, and his brother-in-law, Ken Kozar.

Visitation for Jeff will be Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11 AM at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana 46239.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

  3. I was so sorry to hear of Jeff’s passing. I first met Jeff when I joined the evening Bible Study at Nativity. Jeff was always quiet, but when he spoke in class he always gave some good answers.
