John Joseph Guilfoy Jr.

73, of Indianapolis, passed away on June 7, 2023. John was born in Indianapolis on February 12, 1950, to the late John & Catherine Guilfoy. John was a 1968 graduate of Cathedral High School. John spent most of his career in the produce industry and retired from the Indianapolis Fruit Company. John was never afraid of hard work and displayed this throughout his lifetime. John was a family man and loved being with his wife, children & granddaughters. He could often be found at his granddaughters sporting events and was a huge sports enthusiast himself. John loved to cook and play golf. He always had an “open door” policy and anyone and everyone was always welcome. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years; Barbara Huxley-Guilfoy, children: John (Ronnie) Guilfoy III and Jamie (Molly) Guilfoy, granddaughters; Catherine, Ella, Leah and Cara, brothers; Paul (Phyllis) Guilfoy, Kevin (Mary Fran) Guilfoy and Joe (Patty) Guilfoy and sister; Beth (Don) Speigl.

John is preceded in death by his siblings; Tom Guilfoy and Peg Guilfoy.

A celebration of John’s life will take place at a later date.

    You are all in my thoughts & prayers! Although I haven’t seen Mr. Guilfoy in years, I will always remember his contagious smile and how he always made everyone feel welcome. It’s evident he passed these traits down to his sons as well. God Bless Your Family!

  2. John, Bebe and The Guilfoy family took my wife (Irma) and myself in as family back in 1969! We enjoyed many good times together as family. We watched Johnny & Jamie grow into the respectful and respected gentlemen they grew up to be. With much sympathy and love, we offer the Guilfoy Family our sincerest condolences in the passing of a great MAN!

  3. Friends for life, John will be missed. We were the LaSalle street fab 4. These to pictures were taken 50 years apart. Two are departed, we all will be united again.

  5. The time when John was 11 years old and I helped my Uncle John build a Soap Box Derby car for him . It was built outside and John and I painted it with left over light blue house paint . We used a roller and he was very proud of the car . But the next day I guess we built it too close to the sand pile and it became a little gritty . HA ! HA ! But no matter John had fun in it just the same .

  6. HERE’S TO A GOOD FAMILY MAN FROM A GREAT FAMILY I HAVE KNOWN SINCE 1956. LOTS OF FOND MEMORIES FROM BRIGHTWOOD AND SCHOOL AT ST. FRANCIS,BROOKSIDE PARK ,BOWLING,GOLFING,HAVING A GOOD TIME. ALL AROUND GREAT PERSON . MAY HE REST IN PEACE.

  7. I went to St. Francis de Sales with the Guilfoy family, Paul was in my class. Rest well John in the arms of Our Lord.

  8. He will be missed by so many people. Such a wonderful man and always had a smile on his face when we saw him. He will be missed by so many. God called home one of His very best. Hugs to the entire family.
