Born in: Indianapolis, Indiana
Resided in: Greenwood, Indiana

Joseph V. Morrisey, 72, passed away on April 11, 2025 in Greenwood, Indiana. Born on August 10, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Mary Louise Morrisey, Joe was known for his big heart, quick wit, and ability to make everyone feel at home.

A graduate of Southport High School, Joe’s career journey included owning Hoosier Chimney Sweep, serving the Indianapolis Southside and Johnson County, and, most recently, working as a Master Barber for 30+ years at the renowned Tom’s Barber Shop in Greenwood, Indiana. He was more than a barber—he was a friend to countless clients, a storyteller, and a bright spot in so many people’s days.

Known as “Uncle Joey” to his nieces and nephews, he had the distinct honor of giving many of his nephews their first haircuts—a milestone etched in precious memories. Whether he was cracking jokes, cooking up his award-winning chili, or playing the traditional dice game at family holidays, Joe knew how to have fun and bring people together. His vibrant personality lit up every gathering.

Joe treasured his time with his dad competing in chili cook-offs, proudly known as the infamous “Chili Joe & Co.” These weekends became beloved family traditions filled with peeling, chopping, and plenty of taste-testing. Their award-winning chili brought home multiple first-place awards, but more importantly, it brought the family together. Each bowl was crafted with love, laughter, and a generous helping of Joe’s spirited personality.

An avid sports fan, Joe passionately cheered for the Indiana Hoosiers and the Indianapolis Colts, always looking forward to the annual Indy 500 and Colts family gatherings. He also had a deep love for the outdoors. Any chance he could, Joe enjoyed outdoor adventures—especially camping and boating at Paynetown on Lake Monroe. There, he created countless memories with friends and family.

Joe’s warmth, humor, and kindness touched so many. His stories, his chili, and his love will be remembered forever.

Joe is survived by his siblings: Mike Morrisey, Ann Forey, Paula (Forest) Staley, Patrick (Elia) Morrisey, Dan (Lynn) Morrisey, and John (Carol) Morrisey, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
