Sent with love and remembrance,
Mrs. Burke was a mixture of love, practicality, intelligence, loyalty, humor and so much more. You could always count on her to say exactly what was on her mind. I remember sitting in her house and hearing “Oh Delia, you…(or whoever)” and some statement that was shockingly direct and true. I may not have been her child, but I wasn’t spared either and appreciate her wisdom to this day. She was extended family for me from the age of 7. So entertaining, so much fun. Having nine children of her own wasn’t enough, her arms were extended around others, including myself. She sat with me when I got out of surgery at age 14 after being in an accident that took the life of my dad and brother and left most of the rest of the family hospitalized. Even though she had 9 kids at home both older and younger than me, she was there. My mother loved Mrs. Burke and kept in touch with her until Mom died a few years ago, long after they both moved out of the neighborhood in Farmington Hills. I’m so glad she was a part of my life! And I am sending much love to her family who are missing her greatly today.
Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
