In loving remembrance, we gather to honor the life of Linda Ruth Thompson, 81, whose journey began on November 23, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana. A cherished soul, Linda’s earthly departure on May 29, 2025, leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Linda devoted herself to a noble vocation, serving as an ICU nurse with St. Francis Hospital, where her compassionate nature and skillful hands provided solace to countless patients and their families. She furthered her nursing career as an auditor with EDS, exemplifying dedication and commitment that extended beyond her profession. Her nurturing spirit was evident in every aspect of her life; she was not only a caregiver by trade but also a loving presence to her family and friends.
Raised in the vibrant environment of the Rainbow Girls, and a member of TOPS at Southport High, Linda’s early years were filled with joyful camaraderie and the bonds of sisterhood. She cherished treasured moments spent at the beach, and her laughter could always be found echoing against the waves. Family was the cornerstone of her world, and her love for them was boundless. In her later years, she found peace and fulfillment when she retired to Longboat Key, Florida, where sun-kissed days and silver sands embraced her soul.
Linda is lovingly survived by her children: Karin (Kem) Culler, Mark Rhoades, and Gena (Robert Chistlett) Rhoades. She embraced her role as a stepmother to Donna Tina and Kenneth Thompson, guiding and supporting her with an open heart. The legacy of love she cultivated continues through her grandchildren: Keigan (Katie) Culler, Katilyn Culler, Neil Rhoades, Ryan (Taylor) Rhoades, and Mollie-Rose Chistlett, as well as her step-grandchild, Clinton Mauldin. She basked in the joy of being a great-grandmother to Harper, Tatum, and Greer Rhoades, whose smiles illuminated her days.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Wesley Thompson, and her dear parents, Tom and Dortha (Tirtel) Cunningham. Their journey in life weaves into hers, as she carries their spirits forward in her memory.
