Lloyd E. Ford, a cherished figure in the lives of all who knew him, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Whiteland, Indiana. He was born on May 16, 1942, in Hazen, Arkansas, to the late Dee Dillon & Dorothy Ford. Lloyd lived a life full of passion, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Lloyd was a man of many talents and pursuits. Throughout his career, he immersed himself in various fields, but his greatest pride came from owning and operating Lloyd’s Auto Sales in Camby, Indiana. His unmatched work ethic and ability to connect with people were hallmarks of his character, and his warmth left a lasting impression on the customers he served.
Those privileged to spend time with Lloyd knew him not just as a business owner, but as a vibrant personality who could light up any room. Often affectionately referred to as a “Teddy Bear,” he had a knack for blending opinion with affection; while he might come across as gruff at times, those who looked closer recognized the heart of gold that lay beneath his exterior. He adored his family, and his love was especially evident in the special bond he shared with his daughter, Brenda. He fondly called her “Sweet Pea,” a reflection of his tender nature toward loved ones.
Family gatherings were a source of joy for Lloyd, where laughter would often fill the air. One of the most beloved traditions was the snowmobile trips he took every Christmas holiday with his oldest grandson, Jason. Together, they created memories in the snowy landscapes of Gaylord, Michigan—an adventure that spoke volumes about Lloyd’s zest for life and his commitment to family.
Lloyd found joy not only in his family but also being outdoors in nature. He cherished the snow and water, often retreating to Great Northern Lodge in Wisconsin and visiting Silver Lake Sand Dunes, where he made the most of his beloved “big boy” toys. Whether gliding through snow-covered trails or splashing in the sun-soaked waters, Lloyd embraced life with enthusiasm and passion, ensuring each experience was fully enjoyed.
Lloyd is survived by his loving daughter; Brenda (Jim Ward) Compton, stepdaughter; Danielle Wright, grandchildren; Jason (Rachael) Little, Kendra Gill, Brittney (Chris) Buker, Tristen Ward, Justen Ward, Gavin O’Neal, Chloe O’Neal, Chase O’Neal, and Chance O’Neal, along with many great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his wife; Donna Jean Ford, and brothers; Walter, JD, Bill, Charlie, and Bobby Ford.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 11:30am-1:30pm at O’Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory (6107 South East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227). Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:30pm in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
Though he has left this earth, Lloyd’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy of hard work, love, and laughter will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we remember Lloyd, we celebrate a life richly lived—a life filled with love, adventure, and profound connection to family and friends
