The sister of my heart is finally out of pain and at peace. Fifty years of friendship has brought so many memories. Those memories will never be lost. You’ll always be in my heart. Rest in peace and give Mike a big hug for me.
Margaret (Peggy) Ann Fitzgerald

June 4, 1950 ~ September 17, 2025
Margaret (Peggy) Ann Fitzgerald (née Dever), 75, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on September 17, surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born on June 4, 1950, in Indianapolis to Jack and Mary Dever. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Grade School, Our Lady of Grace Academy, and later graduated from Marian University and IUPUI with a B.A. in English.
In 1971, she married the love of her life, Michael Fitzgerald. Despite lifelong health challenges, Peggy was a fierce advocate for her three children—Keric, Brenden, and Megan.
Throughout her life, she held many professional roles, including positions with the Julian Center and the City of Beech Grove. However, her favorite title was coach. She devoted countless hours to coaching kickball and basketball, ushering many girls into the fold of CYO athletics.
Peggy and Mike especially loved their vacations on Anna Maria Island, where they shared a passion for deep sea fishing—a love they proudly passed down to their children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Keric (Amber), Brenden (Deneen), and Megan (Sean); six grandchildren: Kaleigh, Caulin, Quinn, Layna, Conner, and Medbh; and her six siblings. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mike, her son Patrick, and her parents Jack and Mary.
Visitation will take place at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S East St., Indianapolis, IN, 46227, on Tuesday, September 23, from 5–8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 24, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 S. Union St., Indianapolis, IN, 46225, followed by a traditional Irish wake at Ivory Foundry, 2033 S. Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN, 46225.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Jacob’s Ladder Group in Roswell, Georgia.
We take comfort in knowing Peggy is reunited with Mike—rod, reel, and bait in hand.
