Mark Ford, a great man and a true servant, died Monday, August 3, 2026.

Mark was a smart, funny, humble, outgoing man.  Though he may had  a stern exterior, he loved his family with all his heart, and had many people that he had adopted as his own.  Mark was a protector and mentor to many.

Mark deeply loved his wife Brigid, his son Adam, his sister Dawn and her husband Vern, and many more family and friends.  Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jacqueline Ford, and his son Matthew Ford, all of whom he dearly missed.

Mark was passionate about Indiana University basketball and football, the Green Bay Packers, and most importantly, the New York Yankees.  Mark’s favorite holiday was Halloween, and he was always up for a scary movie.  But Mark’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family.  Mark had an infectious laugh that make everyone around him laugh.

Mark spent more than forty years in law enforcement, both in Indiana and briefly in California.  He leaves behind many cherished friends that he met along the way.

“As for me, my life is already being poured away as a libation, and the time has come for me to be gone.  I have fought the good fight to the end; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith; all there is to come now is the crown of righteousness reserved for me.” (2nd Timothy 4:6-8)

  2. So many memories of Mark being there for his friends as well as his officers. He loved a spit and polished vehicle. He had an awesome sense of humor. You will be missed brother, gone to soon.

  4. Mark Ford a consummate gentleman. Mark proudly served as both a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy, an Indiana State Trooper, Monroe County Deputy, Marion County Sheriff Sergeant, and IMPD Sergeant. In all the years I knew him, I never once heard him speak a critical word about anyone. He was a truly kind and honorable man who will be deeply missed.

  7. Working with Mark was truly a privilege. His positivity and constant smile made every day better. To say he was a great man would be an understatement—he was a model officer who consistently strived for excellence and inspired those around him. RIP my friend.

  8. Mark was one of the best sergeants Ive ever worked for. Nothing really seemed to be bother him. He will be missed for sure!

  9. Mark was a great friend. We worked the Northside of Marion County together. Once, when checking forced entry on a large house on a burglar alarm, he whispered to me, “Hey, Dale.” “What?” “I forgot to put bullets in my gun.” “What!?” I turned around and looked at him. He started laughing that laugh. Then I started laughing. We were lucky the house was empty. He was a nut…and a dear friend.

  11. I transferred from west side to the 2nd shift south side where I met up with Mark. I learned fast that I could count on Mark to have my back and provide intuitive conversations that usually took place at 4100 AKA the Waffle House on Southport Rd. He was a true friend and this world is a little emptier without him.

  14. Mark, was very good Sgt and very personal checking on you make sure you are ok. I will miss him and I remember him talking about taking his wife to Italy. RIP
