Mary E. Gray, 60, Indianapolis, passed away June 16, 2021. Mary was born April 10, 1961, in Indianapolis, to the late Henry and Bonnie Wheeler.
Growing up on the east side of Indianapolis, she was the third youngest of eleven children. Always a hard worker, Mary worked in housekeeping at Methodist Hospital for 20 years and also for Citizens Gas. She enjoyed crafts, puzzles, and loved to sew. Mary was always looking for the bargain that she could not turn down at Goodwill or at the next yard sale. Mary was strongly devoted to her family and always enjoyed hosting everyone for holiday dinners. She was known to have a bit of a sweet tooth and never turned down an Oreo McFlurry or a Honey Bun. Mary will be fondly remembered for her strength and independence, yet very caring manner.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Paul, Harold, Robert, Shirley, Betty, and Kathy.
Survivors include her daughters, Amanda Gray and Christina Gray; son, Andrew Reckley; brothers, Gary Wheeler; sisters, Debbie Gray, Brenda Smith, and Dolly Wheatcraft; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 22, 2021, 5 to 7 p.m., at the O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, with services following at 7 p.m. Visit www.ORileyFuneralHome.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.

Mary, an amazing woman! I loved her like my sister! She was kind, thoughtful, caring, loved her family fiercely! She was tough as nails yet a gentle soul. She was a fighter, there are not words enough to express how very special she was to me and I will miss her deeply till we meet again! RIP Mary, you are missed terribly!
