Maryann Braun

November 23, 1943 ~ August 14, 2026

Born in: Indianapolis, Indiana
Resided in: Indianapolis, Indiana

Maryann Braun, 82, who graced this world with her spirited presence from November 23, 1943, until her peaceful passing on August 14, 2026, will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her and love her.

From the very start, Maryann life was marked by a steadfast connection to her faith and community. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School and continued as a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church—a place that remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Professionally, Maryann flourished as an Accounting Controller with May & Company for many years. More than just a workplace, May & Company was where she forged many friendships that stood the test of time. Long after the workday ended, Maryann’s laughter and companionship uplifted those around her.

It was in her personal life, however, that Maryann’s warmth and vivacity shone brightest. Referred to fondly as both “feisty and sassy,” Maryann never shied away from speaking her mind—if she thought it, you’d likely hear it! Her kindness knew few bounds. Even when she did not have much to spare, Maryann found ways to care for others, making sure that everyone in her orbit felt cherished and supported. Her love for togetherness was most evident during the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, when she reveled in gathering her family under one roof, filling their home with joy, laughter, and a palpable sense of belonging. At those moments, she was truly the happiest Mama around.

Maryann’s passions brought color to her days. She loved being by the water and spent countless memorable hours with her family at their beloved cabin on Lake Lemon. Those lazy lakeside afternoons became a trove of cherished memories, forever stitched into the fabric of her family’s story.

An avid gambler, Maryann could sit for hours at a slot machine, the thrill of the game lighting up her eyes. Her loyalty as a sports fan was unwavering; she was a steadfast supporter of all things Indiana—especially the Indianapolis Colts, Purdue basketball and football, and the Indiana Fever.

But above all, Maryann’s proudest accomplishment was her family. She was their unwavering cheerleader, always there to celebrate her children and grandchildren, finding her deepest happiness in their company and achievements.

Maryann’s is survived by her sons; Tony Braun, Tim (Linda) Braun, and Ted Braun, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brothers; Joe (Jeannette) Kriech, and Mike Kriech, and sister; Diane Benefield.

Maryann’s is preceded in death by her loving husband; Joseph Braun, daughter; Pam Braun, son; Tom Braun, and parents; Virgil & Leona Kriech.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. RIP, Maryann. I have so many fond memories and funny stories from our partying years and I cherish them. Those years when the Braun and Goss cousins took turns hosting a get-together about once a month were wonderful years. We were all so young and innocent then. I wish I could talk with you just one more time and share some stories. Laugh a little. Cry a little. So it goes.
Sending a big hug to the family. Sorry I couldn’t be there in person for the services. I’m there in spirit.
    Annette Goss Hager McMichael
    Joe’s cousin
