Robert Russell McCullar

Robert Russell McCullar, 62, of Greencastle, Indiana, passed away February 23, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana after a brief illness.

Rob was born on November 12, 1962, in Orlando, Florida, the son of James and Jeanne (Smith) McCullar. Rob graduated from Cloverdale High School with the class of 1980. Rob previously worked at Ivy Hill Packaging as a network administrator, and until his passing, he worked for Putnam County Hospital, also as a network administrator. At PCH, he worked alongside many good people, including his boss, Jon Hull, and his fellow IT coworker, Wiktor Zych.

Rob had many interests. He was a lifelong fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and loved music, including going to concerts with his family, particularly Snow Patrol concerts with his daughter Brittany. He collected Green Lantern comic books and memorabilia with his son Brennan and had a special affinity for technology. He was smart, caring, funny, and hardworking. He never passed on a dad joke or a musical reference. The love Rob had for his family and fiancee was immeasurable. Two recent special moments for Rob were meeting his fiancee Angela during the pandemic in 2020, and becoming a granddad to his buddy Connor in 2021.

Rob is survived by his children Brittany Harris (Nathan) and Robert Brennan McCullar (Raven); grandson Connor Harris; fiancee Angela Crowther; mother Jeanne Rutenkroger; siblings, including sister Cherith Boardman (Chris) and brothers: Bryan McCullar, Keith McCullar (Julia), and Jay Rutenkroger; uncle Ed Smith; special grandpups Lynda and Benny; as well as the mother of his children, Lori McCullar, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rob was preceded in death by his father, James McCullar, stepfather Paul Rutenkroger, grandparents Jean Banks and James Smith, uncles John Smith and Billy McCullar, and grandpup Edie.

The family would like to thank the staff of Franciscan Health and Franciscan Hospice House for taking such great care of Rob until his passing.

Services for Rob were entrusted to O’Reilly-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, IN 46227.

A celebration of Rob’s life will be announced at a later date.
