Born in: Indianapolis, Indiana
Resided in: Indianapolis, Indiana

Virginia “Ginny” Fox Hartigan died peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on January 30, 2026, in Indianapolis. She was 56 years old.

Born and raised in Indianapolis, Ginny attended Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School and later Wittenberg University in Ohio, where she majored in Art.  Ginny also spent many childhood and high school summers attending Culver Military Academy’s Woodcraft and Girls School programs.

Upon graduation from Wittenberg, Ginny moved to Chicago, where she started a family and had her two children, Margaret and David, before moving to southeast Michigan in 2007. During the 14 years she lived there, Ginny worked in event planning, advertising, and retail. She was known to have a keen sense of style and loved to help friends and neighbors make decisions about clothing and design.

In 2021, Ginny moved back home to Indianapolis, where she discovered her true calling: addiction recovery counseling. Ginny dedicated her final years of life to supporting recovering alcoholics in their sobriety—both through her job at Community Fairbanks Recovery Center in Indianapolis and through her volunteer work and attendance at meetings at the Carvel Club of Indianapolis.

Ginny was a skilled saleswoman, a talented artist, and a devoted mother and friend. She was also a practicing Catholic, attending St. Ambrose Catholic Church when in Grosse Pointe and Christ the King Catholic Church when in Indianapolis. Ginny loved her father, the late R. Michael “Mike” Fox, dearly, and her family believes they are now together once again in heaven.

She will be loved and remembered by her mother, Janet Fox; her brothers, Ryan (Eleanor) Fox (nephews Arch and Nick) and Raymond Michael (Anne Fogarty) Fox (niece Nora); her aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Patrick Walter; close cousins David and Susan Schnieders; her children, and many others.

The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 a.m., March 14, in Christ the King Catholic Church in Indianapolis, 5884 Crittenden Avenue, with a calling from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carvel Club of Indianapolis, 4627 Carvel Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46205.
O’Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
