Norma Jean Clark

Norma Jean Clark, 84, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away on October 16, 2021 at The Bickford in Greenwood, Indiana. Norma was born on January 18, 1937 in Indianapolis to the late Louis T. and Ernestine (Doyle) Nally. Norma was a1955 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy. On June 4, 1966 in Little Flower Catholic Church Norma wed the late Donald B. Clark, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1997. Despite Donald’s passing occurring nearly 25 years ago, her adoration for her husband remained until the day she passed away. Their marriage and love for each other was an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to witness the bond the pair had.

Being a devoted wife to Donald and loving mother to her sons were the pinnacle of Norma’s life. Her role as a professional housewife was taken seriously coming from a generation that ironed every piece of clothing, scrubbed every baseboard, and washed every window and sill; Norma’s house was meticulously kept. Norma’s two sons, Don and Mike, were the light of her life. Norma taught her sons to not just be faithful, but to live out their faith every day by being a good person. She was always expressing to others how proud she was of the men she raised who both are public servants. Regardless of if it had to be another day, Norma was adamant her family spend the holidays together. Her devotion to her home and to her family was unrivaled; she simply adored them.

When not caring for her family, Norma could be found creating many things. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, and making unique centerpieces. Norma loved to sing and enjoyed listening to her favorite artists such as Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Doris Day. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society, Norma Jean Club (15-20 ladies who went out to lunch, all named Norma Jean), her Euchre Card Club, and YCA group.

Beyond being a tremendous wife and mother, Norma was devoted to her Catholic faith. She and Don were charter members of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Indianapolis where Norma served as a eucharistic minister, volunteered for funeral meals, and assisted with counting the weekly collection. While her sons attended the elementary school at St. Barnabas, Norma worked in the school cafeteria. Norma was so devoted to her faith that hotel accommodations and cruises were booked based on if the family could attend Mass close by or on the ship. Her dedication to her faith and church is something that will always be admired by those she loves and leaves behind.

Norma will be remembered for her loving persona, bright blue eyes, and sparkling smile. She was a beautiful person with a heart and personality that simply cannot be replicated. She will be dearly missed, but her family takes faith in knowing she is in God’s heavenly kingdom with Donald.

Survivors include her sons, Donald J. (Angie) Clark and Michael L. (Christine) Clark; grandchildren, Jarret, Benjamin, Sophia, Michael, and Austin Clark; her sister, June Ann Jorgenson; nephews, Jay and Jeff Jorgenson; a host of cousins, friends, and extended family members.
