Bonnie Lee Shimp Dunn, 80, passed away during the early morning hours of April 27, 2022, at Grand Valley Health and Rehabilitation in Martinsville, Indiana. Bonnie was born on June 20, 1941, in Poplar Branch, North Carolina to the late Johnny Earl Baum and Lilly (Aydlett) Page.
A one-of-a-kind mother, she ran in several mini-marathons, running them every 5 years until age 75. She loved to read a good book, play chess, arm wrestle with her grandkids, and anyone who knew her knew her as extremely kind and generous. Bonnie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she was active in many service-based activities. Giving her time and resources to others through various organizations was very important to Bonnie.
Along with her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent J. Shimp; siblings, Sandy Wadell and Randy Baum; and grandchildren, Shannon Myers and Curtis Thompson.
Survivors include her children, Donna Melton, Kenneth Myers, Michael Shimp, Colleen Schoenfelder, Kathleen Fox, Vincent Shimp, III, David Shimp, and Ryan Dunn; grandchildren, Diane Bruner, Jacqueline Vincent, Katrina Wahlquist, April Pemberton, Ashton Myers, Scott Myers, Stephen Shimp, Stephanie Lively, Eric Shimp, Natalie Shimp, Brandon Shimp, Michael Shimp, Logan Shimp, Alyson Wheeler, Kaitlyn Smith, Caroline Christensen, Lily Lee Rittscher, JoAnnah Rich, Bryanna Tolboe, Kayla Fox, Bryan Fox, Jr., Taylor Shimp, Vincent Shimp IV, Jordan Shimp, Sydney Shimp, Nathan Shimp, Emma Shimp, David Shimp, Jr., Benjamin Shimp, Nicholas Shimp, Elijah Dunn, Daniel Dunn, Jonathan Dunn; great grandchildren, Austin Bruner, Brooklee Bruner, Liliana Vincent, Leilani Vincent, Rose Wahlquist, Sterling Wahlquist, Forest Wahlquist, Ava Pemberton, Joey Pemberton, Addyson Leger, Kelice Leger, Elizabeth Myers, Charlie Myers, Beckham Shimp, Theo Lively, Hudson Lively, London Jane Lively, Elowen Jo Routt, Grace Smith, Tyson Smith, Jackson Smith, Lexie Smith, Levi Wheeler, Owen Christensen, Clair Christensen, Kade Rich, Austin Rich, Kali Rich, Aiden Rich, Keaton Rich, and Stella Ridgeway; siblings, Jean Alred, DuWayne Baum, and Bobby Page; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The Life Celebration® Visitation for Bonnie will be held Friday, May 6, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the chapel at the O’Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis. The funeral service follows in the funeral home at 1:00 PM, Friday. Following the funeral service, burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
