Charles W. Edmonds, 73, Greenwood, passed away September 25, 2019. Charlie was born January 1, 1946, in Beech Grove to the late Ernest Franklin Edmonds and Rosaleen (Griner) Morris.
He graduated from Clark High School and furthered his education at Lane Technical Institute. Charlie worked at the Allison Division of General Motors for 25 years, retiring in 2003 as a manufacturing engineer. He enjoyed wood carving and was an avid traveler – having visited every state except Hawaii. Charlie loved RV’s and created lots of family memories camping through the years. He knew the value of his presence and staying in touch with family and friends. Charlie’s memory will be cherished by loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Edwin E. Edmonds and two brothers, Ernest F. Edmonds, Jr. and Robert D. Edmonds.
Survivors include his wife, Rita (Wiwi) Edmonds, to whom he was united in marriage March 28, 1980; children, Charlie Edmonds, Jr. (Michelle), Andy Edmonds, and Jennifer Turner (Larry); sister, Sandra L. Margason (Bill); eight grandchildren, Jesse, Vance, Tearra, Tessa, Bekah, Rachel, Austin, and Brandon; seven great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Charlie Edmonds Friday, September 27, 2019, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019, in St. Jude Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
