Elizabeth McDonald

July 16, 1928 — July 19, 2023

Elizabeth “Betty” Louise McDonald, 95, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully Wednesday July 19, 2023, surrounded by her family.  She was born July 16, 1928, in Corning, Indiana to George and Rose (Colvin) Wilson being one of 12 children to this union.

Betty married the love of her life, Joseph Leo McDonald, in 1948 and they celebrated 50 wonderful years together.   Betty enjoyed dancing with Joe, working with him in their landscaping business, camping and fishing.  They traveled across the country visiting relatives and accompanied friends and relatives on cruises although she didn’t like the water so much. She was an avid reader, reading the newspaper in full and never getting enough of reading Amish stories.  She was a wiz at doing word search puzzles.  Playing euchre and cinch was her family go to game.

Mr. and Mrs. Mac’s home was always the place to be for her children’s friends.  She was proud to be known as Mrs. Mac to many.

Family was the center of Betty’s life.  She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grand.

Betty and Joe moved from the eastside of Indianapolis to the southside in 1973 as they began their nursery business.  They became members of St. Mark Catholic Church then and helped maintain the landscaping and enjoyed working at the annual festivals.

She is preceded in death by her parents George and Rose (Colvin) Wilson, beloved husband Joseph McDonald, great granddaughter Isabelle MacKenzie Lyons and her 11 brothers and sisters.

Betty is survived by her children Karen (Rick) Lyons, Patty (Tom) Rogers, Joe (Stephanie) McDonald, grandchildren Jeff Lyons, Eric Lyons, Christopher Lyons, Tony Powell, Brian Powell, Kelly Trissler, Abby McDonald, great grandchildren Kasey, Cecilia, Johanna, Joseph, Shai, Xander, Opal Rose, Judson, Milo Seamus, Rori Ann, Gage, Isabelle, Piper, Ollie, Jordan, Jake, Roxie, Corey, Adeline and great-great grandchild Tatum.
