Jo Ann Simons

Jo Ann Simons, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away April 12, 2016. She was born October 18, 1934 in French Lick, Indiana to the late Woodrow Marlette and Ella Pauline Crowe. Jo was the elder of two daughters. Her sister, Sue Ella Wilson, preceded her in death. On October 28, 1950, Jo married the late Herman William Wilson. They were married for 23 years and three daughters were the product of that love. On August 15, 1973, she married Paul William Simons. They enjoyed vacationing at Daytona Beach with their family. Jo was a licensed beautician, bailiff at the Juvenile Court, and worked as a Marion County Corrections officer retiring in 1988. Besides her family, Jo loved her jewelry, designer purses, decorating, and shopping at her favorite store, TJ Maxx Home Goods. When asked what exercise she liked to do, her reply was shopping. Jo is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Paul Simons; children, Carmie (Rick) Godan, Julie (Jeff) McHenry, Jina (Kurt) Simmons, and Mark Simons. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Casie (Nick) Starnes, Jordan McHenry, Joey Simmons, Klay Simmons, Jenna McHenry, Annie Simons, Danielle (Aaron) Ellison, Todd Godan; and great grandsons, Cole Starnes and Dane Starnes. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 2 p.m. in Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home. Friends are invited to gather at the funeral home to greet family members on Saturday beginning at 12 noon. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
