Loretta Theresa Dunn passed away peacefully at the Franciscan Hospice House on October 31, 2021. She was born to Josef and Harriet Ignatowski in Chicago, IL on September 1, 1925. Loretta attended St. Hyacinth’s Grade School, Notre Dame High School, and DePaul University. She was married to Edward Zdunowski on October 22, 1947, and was happily married to him for over 56 years.
She moved with Edward and her oldest son to Indianapolis in 1951, where she had four more children and lived for the rest of her life. She was a long-standing and active member of St. Mark Catholic Church and enjoyed many years of participation with the Knights of Columbus #3660, along with her husband who was a 4th degree knight. She was also employed for many years as a salesperson at the Wm. H. Block Co. Subsequent to her husband’s death in 2004, she became very active as a volunteer with the St. Vincent’s DePaul Society, the Ave Maria Guild at the Hermitage, and assisted with the funeral lunches at St. Mark.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Rosemary Pohopien. She is survived by her 5 children, Roger (D’Earl), James (Barbara), Michael (Judy), Edward, and Janis Dunn-Van Camp (John), as well as 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, November 5, 2021, 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, in St. Mark Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon, with Fr. Martin Peter as the celebrant. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery. According to the wishes of the family and in an effort to create a safe environment, masks will be worn at St. Mark.
