Marlin C. "Marty" Cook

Marlin C. “Marty” Cook, 71, of Martinsville passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 1, 2018 in Indianapolis. Marty was born on March 14, 1947 to Billy Pershing Cook and Velma Cleo (Jones) Cook in Indianapolis.

Marty worked as a machinist for 23 years at AM General, a plant that manufactured military hummers. Marty was a member of the Lynhurst Masonic Lodge #723 F&AM since 1997, Murat Shriners, Scottish Rite Cathedral, VFW post #1111 in Mooresville, American Legion Post #103 in Mooresville, and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Mooresville. He was also very special to his Hog Hollow family.

Marty was always the life of the party and never met a stranger. He was one of the most generous, compassionate and respectful folks you could ever meet-always wearing a smile on his face. His children find it notable that he taught them to never give up and always to treat others better than you would want to be treated. Marty loved animals, especially dogs, his Harley and fellowship with his friends. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Napier.

Survivors include his children, Marlin Dean “Marty” Cook, Brandon (Dawn Sailer) Cook, and Stefanie (Dustin) Davis; his siblings, Suzanne Stone, Kelly D. (Debra) Cook, and Kenneth R. (Nancy) Cook; grandchildren, Shane T., Jacob D., Dylan L., Tyler D., Brandi N. Cook and Noah T. Davis.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, December 7th, 2018 at the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the masonic service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Following the masonic service there will be a time for sharing memories.
