Martha M. Sufan, 88, Beech Grove, passed away August 22, 2017. Mrs. Sufan was born November 3, 1928, in Ain-Arik, Palestine, to the late Minwer and Zareefa (Saba) Sabbah.
A longtime member of Holy Name Catholic Church, she was an avid gardener. She took great pride in growing flowers and vegetables. Her greatest accomplishment was her family, and she loved to care for her children and grandchildren. She loved them all dearly. She was the matriarch of a loving and devoted family that will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by two siblings, Mickel Jacob and Farha Sabbah.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, John Sufan; children, Widad Farah (the late Butros), Jim (Aima) Sufan, Kamal (Ferial) Sufan, Diana (Nazhat) Akel, Sonya (Ron) Kunkel, and Amira (Michael) Kehoe; sister, Tuffaha Saba; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 25, 2017, 4 to 7 p.m., in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, where morning prayers will be said at 10:15 a.m, Saturday, August 26, 2017. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, in Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
