Maxine L. Gasper Smoot, 93, Greenwood, passed away January 15, 2019. Maxine was born March 26, 1925, in Indianapolis, to the late Fred Kempf and Marguerite (Long) Bowles.
She graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School and worked for a number of years at Monarch Buick and Farrell-Argast. Maxine was a kind and caring lady who greatly valued the importance of family. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and would do anything to make their lives brighter. In recent years she enjoyed being a part of the community at Greenwood Village South.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Gasper and her second husband, Raymond Smoot.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn (Pat) Bower; a son, Gary Gasper; sisters, Kathleen Kania and Charlene Roberts; brother, Walter (Mary Ann) Bowles; two grandchildren, Kelly (Brian) Cloud and Kevin (Rachel Pokora) Bower; great grandchildren, Evan and P.J. Cloud.
The family is grateful for the loving care extended by the staff at Greenwood Village South.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 18, 2019, 2 to 4 p.m., in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Entombment will be private at Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Barnabas Catholic Church.
