Norbert M. Dzienciol, 86, Indianapolis, passed away after a brief illness, November 28, 2021. Born in 1935, in Buffalo, New York, Norb was the son of the late Michael and Suzanne Kuczewski Dzienciol.
He graduated from Bishop Ryan High School, proudly served in the United States Air Force, and later graduated from LeMoyne College. When the family relocated to Indianapolis in the late 1970s, Norb worked as a car salesman for Skillman for many years. This profession was a perfect fit for Norb’s outgoing and friendly personality. He was a devout Catholic, a daily Mass attendee for years, and a longtime parishioner of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, where he enjoyed ushering. He was a faithful benefactor to the monks at St. Meinrad Archabbey. Norb loved the outdoors, daily walks to St. Barnabas, gardening, polka dancing, and accompanying his wife to the casino. He will be fondly remembered for his likable personality, love for people, devotion to his faith and his family.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Jean; children, Ann (Frank) Merlenbach, Michael Dzienciol, Philip (Diane) Dzienciol, Lisa Coville, and Andrew Dzienciol Harte; sister, Noreen Zalewski; a host of grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 2, 2021, 4 to 7 p.m., at O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St., Indianapolis. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2021, in St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
