Robert J. Marley, 72, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 9, 2018. Mr. Marley was born June 25, 1946, in Indianapolis, to the late Fred and Alma (Horrell) Marley.
He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1964 and proudly served in the United States Army in combat during the Vietnam War. He worked through the years as a surveyor for Bates & Rogers, Fauber, and Mid-States Engineering. Mr. Marley was a member of the American Legion. Despite his age, he always enjoyed staying ahead of the curve with technology. Robert will be fondly remembered by a loving family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Chollie Christine Marley and a great granddaughter, Jasmine.
Survivors include one son, Scott (Mandy) Marley; daughter, BethAnn Marley; siblings, Sandy (Chuck) Coleman, Thomas (Jan) Marley, and Margaret (Keet) Dearinger; six grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan, Anthony, Dylan, Alex, and Elijah; great grandchildren, Kolsey and Maylie.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018, 2 to 6 p.m., in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 12:30 p.m., Monday, August 13, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, in St. Roch Catholic Church. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In memory of his wife, Christine, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
