William E. "Bill" Mathauer

William E. “Bill” Mathauer, 73, Indianapolis, passed away June 17, 2017. Bill was born May 7, 1944, in Indianapolis, to the late Harold P. and Lorynne (Hauck) Mathauer.

He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and served in the United States Army Reserves. Bill retired from DQP Printing as the manager after more than 30 years of employment. He was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church and was a former member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church. Above all, Bill was a strong family man. Described as generous, kind, faithful, and full of integrity, he will be fondly remembered by a loving family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores (Donnelly) Mathauer and two brothers, Harold J. “Bud” and David Mathauer.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Buckel) Mathauer, to whom he was united in marriage May 28, 1988; children, Janet (Dwight) Wood, Joan (Steve) Berning, Willliam M. “Bill” (Patrice) Mathauer, and Sister Becky Mathauer, OSB of Ferdinand, Indiana; sisters, Martha Mathauer, Georgiann Crouch, Theresa Roembke, and Linda Wilson; grandchildren, Andy Peyton, Kristi Wood, and Casie Wood; Hope, Claire, and Gillian Mathauer; Brandon, Nikki, and Johnny Berning; great grandchildren, Tony and Brookie.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017, in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, where morning prayers will be said at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2017. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
