Margaret T. Buergler, a woman of profound kindness and unwavering love, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Margaret was born on August 29, 1938, in Indianapolis, to the late Joseph & Mildred Shea, Margaret devoted her life to her family, serving as a cherished homemaker while raising her four beautiful daughters. Her legacy is one of selflessness, love, and grace that will be felt for generations.
Married to her soulmate, Edwin Buergler, for an incredible 66 years, Margaret’s heart experienced a profound loss with his passing just a year before her own. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter, with Margaret always standing by Edwin’s side, ready to lend a helping hand in their family business. Their love story is a testament to enduring partnership.
Margaret’s devotion extended seamlessly to her daughters, always present at their sporting events and band performances throughout their childhood. She was not just a mother but also a neighborly chauffeur for countless children, embodying the spirit of community and nurturing that defined her life. Whether on the sidelines cheering or driving carloads of kids, Margaret’s warmth and enthusiasm created an atmosphere of encouragement.
An avid lover of family gatherings, the annual family reunion was a highlight for Margaret. Traveling to locations such as Duck Lake, Long Lake, and Ridinger Lake, she relished each moment spent with her loved ones, often equipped with fishing poles and an eagerness to bond over nature and shared experiences. Family holidays took on a special magic through Margaret’s efforts, as she delighted in creating goodie bags and festive baskets for her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, ensuring that every celebration was memorable.
Outside of her family commitments, Margaret found joy in her flower garden, where she expressed her nurturing spirit through beautiful blooms. A talented seamstress, she crafted her daughters’ school dance dresses, pouring love and creativity into each stitch. Crocheting and needlepoint were also among her cherished hobbies, where she created handmade treasures that reflected her thoughtfulness.
Faith was at the core of Margaret’s existence. As a charter member of St. Jude Catholic Church for over 60 years, she exemplified service, volunteering her time tirelessly and joyfully. Her involvement in summer Vacation Bible School and various church activities not only nurtured her own faith but also enriched the lives of others, bringing a friendly smile and approachable spirit to all her volunteering efforts.
Margaret shared a special bond with her sister, Betty, and their frequent conversations brought immeasurable comfort and joy to her life. Through her relationships, both familial and beyond, Margaret’s legacy of love, community, and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her.
