One of my favorite memories, that recurred over the years happened whenever my Mom and
Aunt Alice were together. I would ask them o tell me about this boy they new in Hays Kansas.
His name was Fauntleroy Ekey. They would both look at each other and sort of grin and roll
their eyes. Apparently, he was a lot like 'Erkel' and tried his best to charm the Weingardt
sisters—all to no avail. The bottom line is that neither of them ever shared much information.
I have a feeling that they went out of their way to aggravate Fauntleroy. Once I asked their
brother, my Uncle Jake about Fauntleroy and he told me that it was a good thing that none
of his sisters had anything to do with him because we would have all looked funny.
Remembering our Mom
Gwen,
I have always been impressed with your close family ties. I think it speaks volumes about your mom that she could enjoy the time with her kids up to her last day on earth. God bless your Mom for a life well lived,
Marty
Larry and I have always loved being around Alice. She Just made us feel good. We have been fortunate to have been included in several of her Vegas trips and had so much fun. She will always be in our hearts. Your family can rest assured that she loved and cherished all of you.
