Anna Wohlhieter

Anna (Neraston) Wohlhieter, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis. Born November 9, 1921 in Indianapolis, Anna was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Chobon) Neraston. On October 14, 1950 she was united in marriage to Joseph P. Wohlhieter.
Anna was a graduate of George Washington High School and worked as an office clerk at Penn Central/Conrail for 20 years. As a founding member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Anna was active in the ladies club at the church. She was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus #3660. Anna enjoyed playing golf, cards and horseshoes, going to casinos, horse tracks, and bowling. Most importantly, she was a loving wife and mother of four, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Joseph P. Wohlhieter of Indianapolis; four children, Patti (Dennis) Stephenson of Indianapolis, Joseph P. (Shelli) Wolhhieter Jr. of Indianapolis, Lisa (John) Wohlhieter-Hobbs of Boca Raton, Florida, and Susan (Jeff) Moore of Brownsburg; 13 grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Stephenson, Adam Stephenson, Ashley (Joe) Ripperger, Kyle (Andrea) Stephenson, Britney Stephenson, Brad (Megan) Stephenson, Joseph P. Wohlhieter, III, Heather (Brian) Haaland, Holly (Dan Hornbrook) Wohlhieter, Hope (Brent) Beanblossom, William Wohlhieter-Hobbs, Alexa Moore, and Aiden Moore; and 14 great grandchildren, Dominic, Gianna, Callie, Emmy, Amaya, Ava, Josie, Jeremiah, Ranger, Brooks, Malachi, O’Rhian, Dakota, and Zoey.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Anna Wohlhieter from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Dear Patti, I am so sorry to hear this. I am praying for you and all of your family. Your mother was a lady of grace and faith. I will never forget hand delivering a copy of our magazine The Update to her because the post office had torn one of the pages. So sorry for your loss such a sweet kind woman I always enjoyed our talks in church or the grocery store she would always ask about my children and was so proud of her grandchildren . A lovely woman . My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
