Barry Stacey Beyers

Barry Stacey Beyers, 79, Indianapolis, passed away May 22, 2022. Barry was born July 17, 1942, in Indianapolis, to the late Lester Cline and Helena (Homiak) Beyers. He is survived by his wife, Jacelyn, to whom he was united in marriage July 10, 1998.

After attending 8 grade schools in 8 years, Barry was grateful to graduate from Shortridge High School, where he was a part of the ROTC program. He attended Butler University and remained active in their ROTC program as well. He held two jobs his entire life. As a paperboy early on, Barry quickly learned the art and science of management – he paid his brother and sister to carry the papers while he collected the money. He then started a successful 48-year career with the Kroger Company. Barry started as a floor boy, working himself up the ladder to produce manager, store manager, and eventually worked in the Kroger office helping to implement the Key Retailing system; he retired in 2008. While he enjoyed the variety of working in many stores, he always said that the Richmond, Indiana store was his favorite.

Barry was a 50-year member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge #251, the Murat Shrine, and the Scottish Rite. He was a huge sports enthusiast and was never shy about cheering on the New York Yankees, Indiana Hoosiers, and the Butler Bulldogs. Barry also enjoyed golfing and always looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Canada that was a mainstay for 40 years. Barry used his incredible gifts and talents as a mentor to many. He gently guided many family members, employees, and friends through the years using his kindness, generosity, and nonjudgmental manner. Barry embodied the term unconditional love and poured out that love to many. He will be fondly remembered by his loving family and many friends. He joined his best friend, Harry Wade, for a beer in heaven when he departed on the one year anniversary of Harry’s death.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Bobby” Beyers.

Survivors include his wife and love of his life, Jacelyn; children, Alicia Sunshine (Randy) Beyers and grandson, Clyde Aloysius Beyers; Shawn Bryson and grandchildren, Joshua and Erica; Rick Bryson (Janet) and grandchildren, Jennifer and Amanda; Terry O’Donnell II and Scott O’Donnell; sister, Andrea (Larry) Power; a host of nieces and nephews.

  4. Barry, I’m going to miss you so much!! We had so many laughs in the salon over the years when I was cutting your hair. We could rip somebody up and down and laugh every minute about it. It was just you and me and we gave them hell! I will miss you forever, I love you Berry. Now you have your wings and fly my friend!

  5. My Uncle Sonny was one of the best memories in my life. I got to spend a lot of time with him when I was a little girl because I was always at my Maws and that is where he lived. He let me drink his instant carnation breakfast drinks for breakfast because I loved them. I know that he didn’t like to part with them but he would give into me. He always went out of his way to let me know that I was loved. I am blessed that I have all of those wonderful memories. I love you so much Uncle Sonny.
